about
After album no.2, 'Wide Awake I see the Storm', I wanted to release an interlude, a lullaby, something that would link past albums, and shine a light on Tailor Birds’ future. And here it is, ‘Stilts on the Water’, music to fall asleep to, and to wake up rejuvenated. Stilts also features the full-length version of ‘White Feather’, written at a time of chaos, of upheaval, a time when many people were struggling, but at a time of positive change.
This record captures a moment in time, a moment to breath. It’s a shout out to all the people who take risks each day to make the world a better place, and is dedicated to the people who make my heart warm, the ones who make me smile, this is for you, my friends’ children, I hope you’ll never be afraid to follow your dreams.
lyrics
VERSE 1 :
Mothers eating peanuts as she laces up the kids’ eyes
Apple pies are cooking for the trophy wives little thrills
Kids are doing dishes as they turn into a breathing clock
Dancing in the leaves and hay
My honey, don’t go away so far
My honey, you are my darling dear
CHORUS :
White feather, open up your eyes,
standing on the sidewalk, they are strapping all the hearts.
White feather, close your beaded cries,
drink on by the sidewalk, as they cut the bleeding grass.
VERSE 2 :
Tom Tom Thumb, he sat up as he smoked
there was knocking at the door, as he lit his baby bird.
Brother john, he stood up as he choked,
painting green bottle toads, eating golden olden oats.
Towers are near you say, over the old old bed.
Flowers drift near you say, you’ll be my forever friend.
(CHORUS)
VERSE 3 :
Standing rocks and crumpets drink their steamy broth as you awake,
sifting flour, carving in your knees we will day dream.
Caste away humans will sit out on the living trees,
lilting as they sand away
My honey, don’t go away so far.
My honey, you are my darling dear.
Towers are near you say, over the old old bed.
Flowers drift near you say, I’ll love you forever my friend
VERSE 4 :
Stilts on the water you won’t be gone my friend
Laying by the sunny seaside we can only tread
Your little baby’s smiling as he passes you by
Standing by your bedside as we send out all your hearts
White feather, white feather, white feather, white feather
(Chorus)
OUTRO :
Towers are near you say, over the old old bed.
Flowers drift near you say, I’ll love you forever my friend.
My honey, don’t go away so far.
My honey, you are my darling dear.
Towers are near you say, over the old old bed.
Flowers drift near you say, I’ll love you forever my friend
